Ongoing call for Volunteers!
The Museo Alameda is committed to making art, history and culture accessible and engaging for visitors of all ages. That’s where our volunteers come in: We rely on our volunteers to help bring the museum’s mission to life.
We have two types of Volunteer positions available:
- General Volunteers:
General Volunteers assist us at our various events and exhibition openings. Training takes place on an individual basis at the Museo Alameda, usually prior to the event itself. Volunteers may act as gallery guides, ushers, greeters for event openings, book signings, or artist’s discussions, or they may assist with crafts for our Family Days or large school tours. (Commitment to the Museo is 2 hours per month for 1 year.)
- Luminarias:
Luminarias serve as general volunteers as well as tour guide (docent) for both adult and student groups. Tours are held everyday except Monday between the hours of 11:30 am and 5:00 pm. Docents are trained for each new exhibition prior to the exhibition opening. Training sessions last between 2 and 4 hours depending on the exhibition. (Commitment to the Museo is 4 hours per month for 1 year.)
We welcome you to join one or more of these programs to help bring the Latino story in America to life. All training and volunteering will occur at the Museo Alameda, 101 S. Santa Rosa.
Ready to Help?
We’re ready for you! Come in on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 pm for New Volunteer Orientation. At orientation you will complete the Volunteer Registration Form and Inquiry Release to let us know your interests. Volunteers interested in training to be docent tour guides (Luminarias), will need to fill out an additional form.
If you have any questions, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, at
